My wife, Bridgette and I
have been in Quarter horses
for over 20 years. Most of
this time was spent training
and riding barrel horses,
and we were fortunate to win
major titles in Ontario,
Quebec and the US.
In 1998 we began the
Canadian Barrel Horse
Association. This new 4D
concept revolutionized
barrel racing in Ontario so
much that entries in 1 year
went from around 50 entries
per show to a high of 180
entries at most shows. It is
this concept that is still
being used by the National
Barrel Horse Association of
Canada and the Ontario
Barrel Racing Association.
We began our racing career
in the early 2000’s at Picov
Downs and Mount Pleasant
Meadows. This transition
really worked for us because
our race horses became
barrel horses and enjoyed an
extended career.
But in 2006 things began to
change. We started the year
with 1 horse and ended with
5. Our success was topped by
Treasured Rock winning APHA
Honour Roll Champion. And we
had fun.
In 2007, we ran 7 horses,
and we won the first ever
Princess Stakes with
Electrolyte Kiss, a filly
Bridgette purchased at the
Heritage Place sale.
In 2008 we actually earned
more in purses, we ran 8
horses, got 3 horses back to
stakes race finals, and we
had our first foal who will
race in 2010. So we are now
breeders as well, and hope
to enjoy the riches of the
ORC Quarter Horse
Program-Breeding.
